Swimmer to Staff: SwimmingSA appoints Dayna Richman as new Sport Administrator

03 February 2025

SwimmingSA and Water Polo SA are excited to announce the appointment of Dayna Richman as the new Sport Administrator for SwimmingSA, alongside her new role as Events and Growth Projects Coordinator for Water Polo SA. Dayna’s journey within the sports community, combined with her passion for graphic design and volunteer work, uniquely positions her to make a significant impact in both organisations.

Since starting just before Christmas, she has already attended and helped with the SA Country Championships in Mount Gambier and more recently, the SA State Open and MC Championships.

Dayna’s deep connection to the swimming world started at a young age, having been a competitive swimmer herself for over a decade. From November 2012 to October 2023, she represented Keith in various competitions, including the SA Country Championships and 2019 SA District Championships, showcasing her dedication to the sport. In the 2023/24 season, she also stepped into the role of a coach for her home club, demonstrating her commitment to fostering the next generation of swimmers. To this day, Dayna and her family retain strong connections to the Keith Swimming Club and the South East Swimming Association.

Prior to her transition into the world of sport administration, Dayna worked as an apprentice graphic designer and signwriter in her hometown of Keith. This hands-on experience helped shape her creative and technical skills, which she would later expand upon. In July 2024, Dayna made the move to Adelaide to pursue further education, completing a Diploma of Graphic Design through Torrens University. This qualification, combined with her experience in social media management, website design and maintenance, and data management, has made Dayna an invaluable asset in the digital space for both SwimmingSA and Water Polo SA. Additionally, she recently accepted an offer and secured her spot in the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design through TAFE SA.

At just 21 years old, Dayna has already shown a strong commitment to volunteerism, dedicating time to various community groups in both Keith and Adelaide. She recently served as the Show Entries Officer and Website Manager for the Keith and Tintinara District Show Society Inc. and having won the Rural Ambassador Award. She went on to the regional finals and placed 3rd, just missing out on progressing to the 2024 Royal Adelaide Show.

In addition to her volunteering, she plays an active role as an Operational Volunteer for the SA Ambulance Service, having recently achieving her Certificate II in Medical Service First Response. Her ability to balance multiple roles while maintaining a focus on service and growth speaks volumes about her dedication and work ethic.

In her new positions, Dayna will work closely with SwimmingSA and Water Polo SA to help drive growth and engagement in both sports, supporting events, and identifying new opportunities for development. Her background as a competitive athlete, coach, and volunteer, combined with her expertise in graphic design, digital media and data management, makes her an asset to both organisations and planning for the future of both sports.

SwimmingSA and Water Polo SA are thrilled to have Dayna on board and look forward to the exciting opportunities her appointment will bring to the sporting communities – in metropolitan, rural and remote communities of South Australia.
