SA Flippers
Identified as a key priority for the future of our sport, the National Flippers program has been rejuvenated since its initial inception, however its core aim to discover and develop talent remains the same. The tailored program – delivered at state and national level – is designed to prepare and nurture selected athletes who are showing potential, with the hope they can successfully transition to the senior team and represent Australia at major international events within the next four years. The National Flippers Program is aligned nationally, while the State Flippers Squad is a steppingstone to the National Program.
SA Development Squad
Comprises athletes who have achieved a selection time at the benchmark meet. Athletes in this squad are targeting national categorisation within 6years.
SA Para Flippers
Males and Females aged 13-19 who achieve the qualifying standard at the Australian Age or Open Multi-Class Championships
SA Open Water Flippers
Males and Females aged 13-19 who achieve the qualifying standard at the Australian Open or Age Open Water Championships

Selection Criteria
- SA Flippers & Development Squad
- Olympic Trials (June 2024)
- South Australian State Short Course Championships (2024)
- South Australian Country Championships (January 2025)
- Aged:
- Males: 13-19years
- Females: 12-18years
- As of April 6th (2024) for Long Course Selection
- As of August 30th (2024) for Short Course Selection
- An Australian Citizen or be an Australian resident in the process of becoming an Australian Citizen; and
- A registered member of a SwimmingSA affiliated club and reside in South Australia at the time of acceptance into the program and for the duration of their involvement in the program;
- Must abide by the terms and conditions of membership and Code of Behaviour; and
- Financially contribute to the activities in which they are part of.

- nationally or internationally classified to be eligible for selection
- a member of a SwimmingSA Club
- a minimum age of 12yrs
- achevie a minimum of one qualyfing time
- qualifying times must be acheived at the 2024 Australian Age or Open Multi-Class Championships.
Selection Criteria:
Selection for the SA Flippers squad will take place at the Australian Age and Open Championships (April 2024).
