2023 OWS Time Trial provides swimmers with an additional opportunity to achieve the Swimming Australia qualifying times for the 2023 Open Water Championships.
At this time trial, swimmers must achieve the Australian 2023 OWS Championships Pool Time Trial QT to be eligible to enter the Australian Championships.
All swimmers will swim the distance of 5km at the time trial irrespective of which criteria they enter with.
Swimmers are required to bring a support person with them to act as the manual timekeeper & lap counter.
Swimmers may enter the 2023 OWS Nationals Qualifying 5km Pool Time Trial if they achieve the following criteria:
1. Be aged appropriate to be eligible to attend the 2023 Australian Open Water Championships in either the 5km, 7.5km or 10km; and
2. Not hold a current Open Water Qualifying Time for the 2023 Australian Open Water Champs; and
3. Have completed a minimum race distance of 5km at the 2021 Open Water State Championships held on 14 March 2021 or 2022 Open Water State Championships held on 5 December 2021; and
4. Have registered Open Water Time since the 1st January 2021 that achieves one of the following time trial qualifying times:

Time Trial spots are limited to 20 Swimmers. Should there be more than 20 swimmers eligible based upon entry criteria swimmers swimmers will be ranked according to their previous OWS history and current best times with the top 20 offered places in the time trial.
NOTE: Current 12/13 year olds who turn 14 by 31 December 2023 may enter based off a 800/1500 time with the following qualifying times:
